About Us

We are Justin and Roseann. The voice you may hear more often on this blog is mine, Roseann’s, because of my love of writing. But our experiences are shared and portrayed in the words you read here. Sometimes serious, usually comical and mostly random… that’s pretty much our life.

We live in Haiti, as humanitarian workers for a faith-based NGO. We also do some travel here and there which I love writing about, and something always seems to be going on in our daily lives in Haiti. We’ve been here since last year, and have been able to walk alongside the people of Haiti during some intense times, like a cholera epidemic, political unrest, and the general harshness and randomness of daily life here. Justin helps head up the medical team as a nurse and I’m documenting stories and photos of the work being done.

Sometimes it seems rather ridiculous that God would have us here, to serve in this way. Most days it feels like we have much to learn, little to give, and nothing to offer.  Yet that is where God precisely wants us– where we end, and He begins.  Our journey that lead us to Haiti was rather sideways and unexpected. Before we left I prayed one specific prayer- “Lord, please use us. Give us a love for the people of Haiti.” He has answered this, as our hearts are often so full they ache from the admiration we have for those we serve. I have been given the privilege of entering into people’s stories to give a voice to those that might not otherwise be heard. I’m blessed by this. Justin is providing tangible healing to the sick.  He has an amazing ability to foster relationships wherever he is, and his Haitian staff adore their “boss Justin.” We are learning to be available and sacrificial, and finding humor and joy in it all. It’s a season of growing, yielding, stumbling, moving forward.

Thank you for joining in our journey here. It’s mostly messy, but it’s grace-filled. And that’s what makes it beautiful, and ours.
